Review as Paid member

User story

As a paid member, I want to follow a contributor and submit a note on an accessible story so I can stay connected to the people and ideas behind a story.

Draft requirements for review · Updated 2026-10-19

What the app should do

  • Follow the credited contributor and keep that relationship in My Backcountry.
  • Use the shared conversation to type a story note or reply; retain the existing submitted-note notice.
  • Keep new submissions author-only awaiting moderation locally, with no automatic publication or increase in published counts.
  • Use the active Paid member role fixture for member-only actions. A free account or a professional identity does not supply paid access. The review identity is a genuine local account; another account’s checkout state stays separate.

What to check in the demo

Follow these steps from the role’s landing page through navigation and feature checks.

Review asStart here: Home

Begin on the paid Member Home. Use the Paid member demo role or Casey Bennett in Try a demo account, then select Member in the account/workspace menu if necessary. This creates a genuine local session with a seeded no-charge test membership; it does not upgrade a different account.

Navigation from sign-in

  1. 01Open the fictional Paid member account through the connected sign-in service. Seeded Home review opens directly. Real HOL staff access and protected actions require an authenticator check.
  2. 02Select Read the story in the Home hero to open The Long Way In.

Feature checks start here

The Long Way In

Ready for frontend review in dev only; original fictional content, local discussion and genuine local account access. Content/discussion are local previews; historical catalog migration is not included.

  1. 03Find the contributor attribution and select Follow.
  2. 04Move to the story conversation and enter a short note within the stated limits.
  3. 05Submit the note and check that it waits for moderation rather than appearing as a published comment.
  4. 06Open My Backcountry → Following and check the contributor relationship.
  5. 07The Following list contains seeded contributor cards. Check the actual Follow/Following control and retained state; a pre-existing card alone does not prove the new relationship or unfollow removal.

Before this can work

  • Begin on the paid Member Home. Use the Paid member demo role or Casey Bennett in Try a demo account, then select Member in the account/workspace menu if necessary. This creates a genuine local session with a seeded no-charge test membership; it does not upgrade a different account.
  • Current fictional editorial/discussion fixtures in dev and the sample-account review controls; no real credentials or service connection.

No prerequisite story has been confirmed. The setup above describes the content or decisions needed.
