Find a story wherever it appears in Backcountry

Start from HomeReview as Paid member
User story
As a paid member, I want to see one content object across surfaces so I can keep context and engagement wherever I find a story.
Draft requirements for review · Updated 2026-10-19
What the app should do
- Use the same article destination and attributed work when opened from the archive, search, linked reading, place hub or Community.
- Use the same contextual thread for feed previews and its expanded conversation.
- Remaining acceptance: demonstrate one canonical work across every required Home, Community, Group and Search placement with consistent saves and engagement. Newly added article pages do not yet have the full shared save/reaction/share controls.
- Use the active Paid member role fixture for member-only actions. A free account or a professional identity does not supply paid access. The review identity is a genuine local account; another account’s checkout state stays separate.
What to check in the demo
Follow these steps from the role’s landing page through navigation and feature checks.
Paid member
Start here: HomeBegin on the paid Member Home. Use the Paid member demo role or Casey Bennett in Try a demo account, then select Member in the account/workspace menu if necessary. This creates a genuine local session with a seeded no-charge test membership; it does not upgrade a different account.
Navigation from sign-in
- 01Open the fictional Paid member account through the connected sign-in service. Seeded Home review opens directly. Real HOL staff access and protected actions require an authenticator check.
- 02Select Read the story in the Home hero to open The Long Way In.
Feature checks start here
The Long Way In
Partial frontend implementation is available in dev. Review the delivered links/actions below; remaining acceptance is listed explicitly. No connected backend is implied.
- 03Open The Long Way In from paid Member Home, Community, Search and Liam McGee’s Published work. Check that each placement reaches the same original story.
- 04Use Save or a comment/reaction on that original, then compare its local state through another placement.
- 05For the group route use Reading Wind on the Ridge instead: Northern Vermont Touring → Read the editor’s field brief reaches the same public lesson as Events → Prepare for Snow Lab and the story archive. The group does not currently provide a The Long Way In link.
- 06Preserve the canonical author and thread; seeded library/progress cards are not proof of measured progress or every cross-surface backend relationship.
Before this can work
- Begin on the paid Member Home. Use the Paid member demo role or Casey Bennett in Try a demo account, then select Member in the account/workspace menu if necessary. This creates a genuine local session with a seeded no-charge test membership; it does not upgrade a different account.
- Current fictional editorial/discussion fixtures in dev and the sample-account review controls; no real credentials or service connection.
No prerequisite story has been confirmed. The setup above describes the content or decisions needed.
