Follow a place and sign up for an event

Start from HomeReview as Paid member
User story
As a paid member, I want to follow a place and reserve a member event so I can turn discovery into participation.
Draft requirements for review · Updated 2026-10-19
What the app should do
- Read public place and event descriptions, timing, timezone, eligibility and published hosts from canonical persisted records. This read conversion does not build event reservation, place-follow or planning writes.
- Follow Mount Mansfield, review Snow Lab details, reserve, and see the event in My Backcountry.
- Use the active Paid member role fixture for member-only actions. A free account or a professional identity does not supply paid access. The review identity is a genuine local account; another account’s checkout state stays separate.
What to check in the demo
Follow these steps from the role’s landing page through navigation and feature checks.
Begin on the paid Member Home. Use the Paid member demo role or Casey Bennett in Try a demo account, then select Member in the account/workspace menu if necessary. This creates a genuine local session with a seeded no-charge test membership; it does not upgrade a different account.
Navigation from sign-in
- 01Open the fictional Paid member account through the connected sign-in service. Seeded Home review opens directly. Real HOL staff access and protected actions require an authenticator check.
- 02From paid Member Home select Explore. Mount Mansfield is selected initially; use Search map places → Go if needed. The feature starts at Follow in the place panel.
Feature checks start here
Places
Public-content reads are available for dev review; full story acceptance and stakeholder approval remain separate. Navigation and feature checks can be reviewed in the current demo.
- 03Select Follow on Mount Mansfield, or inspect its current Following state.
- 04Open Northern Vermont Snow Lab from the place panel, then Reserve a member spot.
- 05Inspect Confirm your spot. and select Confirm reservation in the local preview; review the resulting confirmation.
- 06Use footer My Backcountry → My events to inspect the reservation. This event reservation is still a sample interaction, not a live booking.
Backend work for this feature
Backend development authorized · Dev only
What needs to be supported
- Selected authorization is the public read/content-seeding slice only. Existing write, participation, editorial management, event operations, gift redemption, payment and delivery requirements below are separate later work unless already authorized elsewhere.
- Read public place and event descriptions, timing, timezone, eligibility and published hosts from canonical persisted records. This read conversion does not build event reservation, place-follow or planning writes.
- Persist owner-scoped place follows and canonical event reservations; enforce event public/member eligibility and trusted paid access for member-only Snow Lab.
- Store event-to-person appearance/clinic associations with pending/approved/declined/removed states and reviewer history; only assigned D078 operators may approve them.
- Expose public approved associations and the professional’s own allowed status without disclosing private attendee records; association does not grant editing, booking or paid authority.
- Use atomic/idempotent capacity and reservation updates; preserve the same event/follow record through account upgrade, cancellation and failed requests.
How to verify in dev
- Verify published-only anonymous projection, no private/protected payload, stable IDs and links, missing/unpublished records, empty/loading/error UI, and no silent static fallback. Idempotent seed rerun preserves edited records; authenticated/dummy Home entry remains unchanged.
- Check the public event/place listing and linked detail without signing in; membership prompts still guard participation.
- Compare free/public-event and paid/Snow Lab reservation checks with separate synthetic identities; no professional-label-only member reservation.
- Approve/remove an appearance through the assigned D078 operator, reload person/event views and verify matching public state; deny self-approval and private attendee reads.
- Race/repeat reservations and failed follow saves; verify no duplicate booking or incorrect capacity.
Before this can work
- Begin on the paid Member Home. Use the Paid member demo role or Casey Bennett in Try a demo account, then select Member in the account/workspace menu if necessary. This creates a genuine local session with a seeded no-charge test membership; it does not upgrade a different account.
No prerequisite story has been confirmed. The setup above describes the content or decisions needed.
