Review goods orders and fulfillment
commerce · Proposed launch phase 4
Start from HomeReview as Commercial manager · Full workflow planned
User story
As a commercial manager, I want to review orders within an assigned store responsibility and record their fulfillment state so buyers and the team know what happens next.
Draft requirements for review · Updated 2026-10-19
What the app should do
- Show an assigned goods-order queue with item/quantity/price snapshot, simulated payment state and the minimum delivery information required.
- Use explicit received, needs attention, processing, fulfilled, cancelled and returned/refund-requested states where approved; keep payment and fulfillment separate.
- Record fulfillment updates, reasons and a buyer-visible order status; handle unavailable items or failed fulfillment without silently changing accepted totals.
- Cancellation/refund authority, shipping policy and operational owner must be agreed before connected actions. The demo uses synthetic orders with no charge, shipment, message or refund.
- Goods fulfillment does not grant membership or access to unrelated customers’ account records.
- Planned customer Shop history D109 reuses the eventual trusted order/fulfillment records with an owner-safe projection. Customer settings never confer operator fulfillment/refund authority; no new order schema/write is selected for the profile-editor increment.
What to check in the demo
Follow these steps from the role’s landing page through navigation and feature checks.
Commercial manager
Start here: HomeChoose the Avery Chen dummy account and open its assigned Commercial manager Home without a password or authenticator prompt. This dev-only Home review does not verify MFA or unlock protected staff actions. Use your own provisioned staff account and authenticator when reviewing those actions.
Navigation from sign-in
- 01Open the fictional Commercial manager account through the connected sign-in service. Seeded Home review opens directly. Real HOL staff access and protected actions require an authenticator check.
- 02Start on Commercial manager Home and open Features + permissions. There is no operator order queue yet; Shop checkout demonstrates only the buyer side.

Review goods orders and fulfillment · Full workflow planned
Planned full workflow. Existing workspace samples, where present, demonstrate only isolated controls. Backend implementation is on hold; no completed end-to-end outcome or stakeholder approval is claimed.
- 03Current UI review: follow the navigation as far as the explicitly available screen; the complete feature below is not built. Stop when the named control is absent.
- 04Planned acceptance — Review Order management scope and its ownership decision.
- 05Planned acceptance — open a fictional received order and compare its stored items/totals with the buyer’s order confirmation.
- 06Planned acceptance — Record an allowed fulfillment update and inspect the buyer-visible status.
- 07Planned acceptance — Review unavailable-item, cancellation and refund-request examples without performing real financial or shipping actions.
- 08Planned acceptance — Confirm only the assigned operator sees required order details; another buyer’s private information stays hidden.
Backend work for this feature
Requirements only · Backend implementation on hold
What needs to be supported
- Store immutable accepted order/item/price snapshots, buyer ownership, separate test-payment and fulfillment states and an append-only state history.
- Authorize buyer-only order reads and explicitly assigned operator access to minimal delivery/contact fields; prevent mass exposure/export of customer data.
- Validate allowed state transitions, stock/fulfillment conflicts and cancellation authority on the server; use idempotent operations and version checks.
- Prepare a trusted future payment/refund/shipping boundary without connecting providers, moving money or sending messages. Preserve order history through catalog retirement.
- Retain actor/time/reason and buyer-visible status; handle duplicate updates, missing orders and interrupted saves without claiming a shipment or refund happened.
How to verify when implementation is approved
- Test buyer, unrelated buyer, assigned operator and an unassigned commercial account against order reads and updates.
- Repeat/concurrently change fulfillment and cancellation requests; verify one authorized state history and unchanged accepted totals.
- Reload buyer/operator views after success and a forced failed update; confirm matching status and no real charge, refund, shipment or notification.
Before this can work
- Choose the Avery Chen dummy account and open its assigned Commercial manager Home without a password or authenticator prompt. This dev-only Home review does not verify MFA or unlock protected staff actions. Use your own provisioned staff account and authenticator when reviewing those actions.
- Confirm goods-order operational owner, minimum private data, cancellation/refund authority and delivery/returns policy. No real transaction or shipment is authorized.
- Use fictional role-preview records. Frontend prototypes may simulate the workflow; no backend implementation or real service operation is authorized.
- HOL-D058 · Sign in and manage my session
Shared identity/backend dependency for a future connected implementation; frontend review may use local fixtures.
